Peter Okoye Blames Fans for P-Square’s Breakup

Peter Okoye, one half of the defunct Afrobeat duo P-Square, has attributed the group’s split to fans.

According to him, the constant comparisons between him and his brother Paul fueled tension and ego issues.

The twins initially broke up in 2017 after years of internal conflicts and public feuds over management, finances, and creative direction. Their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who owned a significant share of their company PClassic Label, was also drawn into the messy breakup.

Speaking at the AYLIVE show, Peter said, “Fans are the reason Psquare no dey together today. Two brothers dey do one thing, ona dey talk say one better pass one, e con enter one head, he begin misbehave. If ona like make ona dey go house, I no send una.”

During their time together, P-Square achieved huge commercial success, selling out stadiums across Africa. Formed in 1997, the group rose to fame with hits like “E No Easy,” “Bizzy Body,” and “Personally.”

In a recent development, Paul Okoye blamed Peter for their brother Jude’s legal issues. At a press conference after Jude’s bail hearing, Paul stated, “The truth is reports are making it look like Jude is a fraud but let’s call a spade a spade.

“Peter is the one putting Jude through this. Peter is doing this and putting him in prison; I’m here to bring him out. I don’t deny that Peter is my brother, that has nothing to do with it. If they say Jude is guilty of these crimes, then Peter is guilty and Paul is guilty.”
