PDP Is Dead and Buried, I’ve Joined ADC – Dino Melaye
Former Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and announced his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Monday, September 8, 2025, Melaye declared that the PDP had lost its relevance and was now being remotely controlled by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The PDP is dead and buried. I am no longer a member. I am now a member of the ADC,” Melaye said.
He further alleged that the PDP had been “sold” to political interests outside the party.
“PDP was sold, and I am not sure they got the receipt of payment, but it has been sold. What’s there now is an APC-controlled PDP,” he added.
Melaye likened the PDP’s condition to a permanent demise, saying: “Apart from our Lord Jesus Christ, no dead can rise again. The dead is dead, we can only advertise the obituary.”
His defection comes amid deepening internal crises within the PDP, which has struggled with defections, leadership tussles, and dwindling influence since the 2023 general elections.
