The Delta State House of Assembly on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, resumed plenary after its annual recess, with Speaker Rt. Hon. Guwor Emomotimi Dennis calling on members to rededicate themselves to service, unity, and legislative excellence.

In his welcome address, the Speaker highlighted the Assembly’s participation in a Leadership Development Training on “Strategies for Inclusive Economic Growth” at Manchester Metropolitan University, United Kingdom, during the recess. According to him, “inclusive governance is the surest path to sustainable development,” stressing that policy decisions must be evidence-driven and guided by the realities of constituents. He added that innovation, accountability, and transparency would be the guiding pillars of the 8th Assembly.

The Speaker commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for ongoing infrastructural projects, including the newly awarded flyovers at Uromi junction in Ika South and Otovwodo junction in Ughelli North. He also lauded the Governor for awarding and constructing a dual-purpose building for the Assembly’s Clinic and the House of Assembly Service Commission, which he said would improve legislative welfare and service delivery.
