In a statement issued on Friday in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Oborevwori said Badejo-Okusanya’s election as the first elected female President of the NBA reflected the confidence reposed in her by members of the legal profession.
He described her career as one marked by integrity, professionalism and commitment to justice, expressing optimism that her leadership would strengthen the legal profession, deepen the rule of law and promote reforms aimed at improving access to justice across Nigeria.
Oborevwori urged the new NBA President to unite members of the association following the keenly contested election and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to advance judicial reforms, protect the sanctity of the Constitution and sustain the legal profession’s contribution to Nigeria’s democratic development.
He wished her a successful and impactful tenure in office.
The governor also described the election of Chief Oghenero Okoro as First Vice President of the NBA as well deserved, citing his outstanding contributions to the legal profession.
Oborevwori noted that Okoro, a former Chairman of the NBA Warri Branch, had brought honour to Delta State through his emergence and expressed confidence that he would deploy his wealth of experience towards strengthening the association.
He further congratulated Mrs. Gladys Aghogho Okpomor on her election as Assistant General Secretary of the NBA, saying her emergence further demonstrated the growing influence and contributions of Delta professionals to the nation’s legal community.
The governor recalled that Okpomor had previously served as Assistant General Secretary of the Young Lawyers Forum, Minna Branch, and commended her commitment to the advancement of the legal profession.
