Oborevwori Marks 63rd Birthday With Thanksgiving, Reaffirms Commitment to Serving Deltans

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Friday, June 19, 2026, marked his 63rd birthday with a thanksgiving service at the Government House Chapel in Asaba, using the occasion to express gratitude to God and renew his commitment to serving the people of Delta State.

Rather than hosting elaborate celebrations, the governor said the day was dedicated to appreciating God for preserving his life, granting him wisdom in leadership, and sustaining him through years of public service.

Addressing worshippers during the service, Oborevwori described thanksgiving as more meaningful than social festivities associated with birthdays.

“I have come here to thank God. The most important thing for me today is to give God thanks because He has kept me and sustained me. Every other celebration is secondary,” the governor said.

Oborevwori, who described himself as a committed Christian, expressed appreciation to Deltans and supporters for their continued goodwill, encouragement and confidence in his administration.

He assured residents that his government would remain focused on delivering meaningful development and improving the lives of citizens across the state.

“I thank all those who have shown me love and support over the years. By the grace of God, I will continue to do my best to serve the people of Delta State and justify the confidence reposed in me,” he stated.

The governor also appealed to citizens to continue praying for leaders, noting that governance requires divine wisdom, strength and guidance.

“Pray for me, pray for the state, and pray for all those in authority. We need your prayers as we continue to serve. I believe that by God’s grace, everyone will have an opportunity to fulfil their purpose in life,” he added.

Oborevwori further commended the Government House Chapel chaplaincy team for sustaining regular worship activities and creating an atmosphere of spiritual reflection within government.

Delivering the sermon titled “What Is Your Prayer to God?”, the Chaplain of Government House Chapel, Venerable Charles Osemenam, congratulated the governor on attaining the age of 63 and prayed for continued wisdom and grace upon his administration.

Drawing from 1 Kings 3:7–12, the cleric emphasised the importance of seeking wisdom from God, citing King Solomon’s example of godly leadership.

Osemenam noted that Governor Oborevwori had continued to demonstrate commitment to peace, unity and inclusive governance across Delta State, adding that such qualities reflected divine guidance.

According to him, managing a diverse state like Delta requires patience, wisdom and a heart dedicated to peaceful coexistence and development.

He prayed for greater strength and insight for the governor as he continues to lead the state.

The thanksgiving service attracted family members, government officials, political associates, clergy and worshippers who joined the governor in celebrating the milestone and offering prayers for continued success.

A major highlight of the event was the cutting of the 63rd birthday cake by Governor Oborevwori alongside his wife, clerics and top government functionaries.
