Iran-Israel Crisis: U.S. Embassy in Qatar Urges Americans to Shelter Amid Escalating Conflict
The U.S. Embassy in Qatar has advised American citizens to remain indoors “until further notice” following a dramatic escalation in the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we recommend American citizens shelter in place until further notice,” read a security advisory issued on Monday.
The warning comes in the wake of U.S. airstrikes targeting three major Iranian nuclear facilities Natanz, Fordo, and Isfahan carried out in the early hours of Sunday.
U.S. President Donald Trump, addressing the strikes, issued a stern message: “Tehran must now agree to end this war or face far more serious consequences.”
Responding to the attack, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that while “the door to diplomacy should always be open,” the present moment was not conducive for dialogue. He accused the United States of sabotaging diplomatic efforts and reiterated Iran’s determination to defend its sovereignty and interests.
The Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran confirmed that the strikes would not deter the country’s nuclear ambitions, asserting that its nuclear industry would continue to advance.
The military action has provoked strong global reactions. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called the strikes “a dangerous escalation and a threat to global peace.”
Russia also condemned the operation, labeling it a “gross violation of international law,” the UN Charter, and existing UN Security Council resolutions. Moscow urged the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to respond with impartiality.
China and Cuba echoed the sentiment, issuing their own condemnations of the U.S. operation.
As tensions rise, diplomatic observers warn that further escalation could have far-reaching implications across the region and beyond.
