Iran Denies Missile Attack on Israel After Ceasefire Declaration
Iran on Tuesday firmly denied launching missiles toward Israel in the hours following the ceasefire announcement made by US President Donald Trump, countering Israeli claims of a fresh attack.
According to Iran’s state television, the general staff of the Iranian army “denied the launch of missiles from Iran to the occupied territories (Israel) in the last few hours.”
This denial comes in response to accusations by Israeli authorities, who alleged that Tehran had violated the newly declared ceasefire by firing missiles into Israeli territory.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz had earlier stated that Israel would “respond forcefully to Iran’s violation of the ceasefire,” following reports from the Israeli military of incoming missiles.
The conflicting statements have cast doubt over the implementation of the ceasefire, which was announced by President Trump as a phased truce aimed at halting hostilities between the two arch-rivals after nearly two weeks of intense military exchanges.
While both sides have suffered casualties and infrastructure damage in the ongoing conflict, Tuesday’s developments indicate the fragile state of the truce and the potential for further escalation if mutual trust is not restored.
