Trump Escalating Iran-Israel Crisis, Says China
China has accused President Donald Trump of inflaming tensions in the rapidly escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, following his dramatic warning for residents to “immediately evacuate” Tehran.
The criticism came after Trump posted on his Truth Social platform:
“Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”
The warning followed Israel’s surprise aerial offensive last week targeting locations across Iran, a move it said was aimed at thwarting Tehran’s alleged pursuit of nuclear weapons an accusation Iranian authorities continue to deny. The attack marked a significant escalation in the long-standing animosity between the two regional rivals and jeopardized ongoing nuclear negotiations.
In response to a question about Trump’s comments, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun condemned the rhetoric, saying it risked deepening an already dangerous situation.
“Fanning the flames, pouring oil, making threats and mounting pressure will not help to promote the de-escalation of the situation, but will only intensify and widen the conflict,” Guo said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
Guo called on global powers, particularly those with influence over Israel, to act swiftly and responsibly to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control.
“The Chinese side calls on all relevant parties, especially countries with special influence on Israel, to shoulder their responsibilities, take immediate measures to de-escalate tensions, and prevent the conflict from expanding and spreading.”
Separately, China’s embassy in Israel also issued an urgent advisory on Tuesday, urging Chinese citizens to evacuate the country due to the escalating hostilities.
“The Chinese mission in Israel reminds Chinese nationals to leave the country as soon as possible via land border crossings, on the precondition that they can guarantee their personal safety,” the embassy said in a WeChat statement, advising citizens to head toward Jordan.
The embassy warned that the conflict was worsening by the day.
“Much civilian infrastructure has been damaged, civilian casualties are on the rise, and the security situation is becoming more serious,” the statement read.
With both Israel and Iran exchanging heavy strikes and global leaders issuing increasingly dire warnings, fears of a broader regional war continue to mount.
