I’m Not Running Against Tinubu in 2027 – Yahaya Bello
Former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has firmly denied harbouring any presidential ambition for the 2027 elections, stating that he will not contest against President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement released on Friday and signed by his Media Director, Michael Ohiare, Bello addressed a circulating video of a 2022 rally, falsely suggesting that he had launched a new presidential campaign against President Tinubu.
“While we state categorically, that our principal, Bello, has no 2027 presidential ambition, we want to also stress his unflinching commitment to the re-election of President Tinubu come 2027,” Ohiare said.
He further emphasized the former governor’s support for Tinubu, citing the President’s performance amid global economic challenges.
“The indices cannot lie. The President and his team have done exceedingly well for the country, despite global challenges. On merit, he deserves the support of well-meaning Nigerians,” he added.
Ohiare condemned the post as misinformation, pointing out that the video in question clearly displayed banners dated 2022, which the fabricators conveniently ignored.
“Nigerians should disregard the mischievous post insinuating a fresh presidential support rally as what it is – a senseless post by a confused, witless mind,” he stated.
He described the video’s circulation as another attempt by detractors to damage Bello’s reputation and sow discord between him and President Tinubu.
“The fabricators have tried so hard in their ‘bring-him-down-at-all-costs’ mission against Bello but have always failed woefully,” he said.
“This latest slant of reposting a 2022 rally afresh and insinuating that it is just happening, connotes nothing but sheer mischief.”
Ohiare urged the public to remain vigilant against politically motivated falsehoods.
“Nigerians should be wary of witless persons who concoct stories without thinking, just to satisfy the interests of their paymasters,” he concluded.
He reaffirmed that the misinformation campaign is a desperate bid to manufacture crisis where none exists.
