Genevieve Nnaji Responds to X User’s Igbo Marriage Advice
Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji has sparked discussion on social media after responding to a controversial post advising Igbo men to avoid marrying Igbo women.
The debate began on Sunday evening when a user on X wrote: “Dear Igbo men, instead of marrying Igbo woman that’ll falsely accuse you of r4ping your daughter, better look outside for wife… Go to East Africa, especially this Rwanda and pick a damsel.”
In order words, Instead of checking yourself and taking accountability, go for the unsuspecting and carry on with your evil. Got it👍🏾 https://t.co/Gwzgtze68n

Nnaji, an Igbo woman from Mbaise, Imo State, quickly fired back: “In other words, instead of checking yourself and taking accountability, go for the unsuspecting and carry on with your evil. Got it.”
Her comment drew mixed reactions, with some users arguing that the original tweet targeted “false rape accusers” rather than all women. Nnaji doubled down, writing: “The same way a woman can’t tell an abusive man apart from a good one is the same way you shouldn’t say avoid all Igbo women. ‘Not all women.’” She emphasised the dangers of stereotyping an entire group.
