The CEO of X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk has stated that Starting Friday, June 27, advertisers on X platform will no longer be allowed to use hashtags in their promotions.
The announcement was made by the Elon Musk, via his official handle on X, where he referred to hashtags in ads as an “esthetic nightmare.”
While the move is expected to generate mixed reactions from marketers who rely on hashtags to boost visibility and engagement, Musk has remained consistent in his vision to streamline the user experience on the platform.
“Starting tomorrow, the esthetic nightmare that is hashtags will be banned from ads on X,” Musk posted, sparking immediate debate among users and digital marketers alike.
