Flights Resume at Dubai International Airport After Drone Attack
Flights have gradually resumed at Dubai International Airport after a drone strike triggered a fire near the facility, forcing authorities to temporarily suspend operations at one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs.
Airport authorities confirmed that some services restarted after emergency teams contained the blaze caused when a drone struck a fuel tank near the airport early Monday. The suspension initially halted flights and led to diversions to other regional airports.
According to officials, the airport began a “gradual resumption of some flights to and from Dubai International (DXB) to selected destinations” following the precautionary shutdown.
Major carriers, including Emirates, temporarily halted operations before announcing a limited return to service as authorities assessed safety conditions.
The incident occurred amid escalating regional tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran and its regional adversaries, which has seen missiles and drones targeting infrastructure across Gulf states.
Although no casualties were reported at the airport, the attack has renewed concerns about the vulnerability of civilian aviation infrastructure during geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East.
Authorities say operations are being restored gradually while enhanced security measures remain in place to safeguard passengers and airline operations.
