Dua Lipa Sues Samsung for $15M Over Image Use in TV Ads
British pop star Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung Electronics, alleging the company used her image without permission to promote and sell television sets in the United States.
According to court filings reported by international media outlets, the image in question is a backstage photograph titled “Dua Lipa – Backstage at Austin City Limits, 2024”, which the singer says she fully owns the rights to.
The lawsuit claims Samsung placed the image on TV packaging, creating the impression that the singer endorsed the product. Dua Lipa is accusing the company of copyright infringement, trademark violations, and misuse of her publicity rights.
Reports also state that the singer became aware of the alleged misuse in 2025 and reportedly sent a cease-and-desist request, but Samsung allegedly continued using the image.
The case is now before a U.S. federal court in California, with Dua Lipa seeking at least $15 million in damages. Samsung has not publicly responded to the allegations as the case is still ongoing.
The lawsuit has sparked widespread discussion online, especially around celebrity image rights and how global brands use public figures in marketing without direct consent.
