The chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) Delta state branch as well as the Chairman of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Delta state council, Comrade Bolum Nwachukwu, has bagged the Africa Medal Merit Award.
The medal of honours are annually presented by Time Africa Magazine, to individuals who have made public or private endeavours especially meritorious contributions to the interests of countries in the Africa continent, world peace, or to cultural or other significants.
The award was presented at the Nigeria National Merit Award House Abuja Nigeria’s capital on November 1, 2021
The Magazine said, “It is an award of testimonial and as TUC chairman, we are proud to say he led the way in creating the workers-government-friendly workplace policies and practices that exist in Delta state.”
The Magazine said it received some of the highest ratings by employers of labour and members of the public who provided anonymous feedback about nominees.
It added that the list was whittled down from several hundred nominees and Comrade Bolum Martin Nwachukwu was chosen for the honour for his core values.
One of his core values, according to the magazine, is his grass root movement, which has become stronger and push for workers welfare in government and private sector.
He has negotiated many successful settlements for his union at the state and sational levels.
Also the Medal of Merit was bestowed on him on the basis of his inclination for humanitarian services, ostensibly fighting for the interest of the downtrodden and marginalized in the society.
