Delta Investment Summit: Foreign Investors Bet Big on Delta’s Agriculture, Energy Sectors
The Delta State Government’s investment drive received a major boost as investors from Brazil, Malaysia and the United States declared their readiness to invest in the state’s agriculture, energy and industrial sectors after touring key investment sites.
The investors, who attended the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026, visited the Kwale Special Economic Zone, the Kwale Gas Gathering Hub, Phoenix Company, Skyward Resources Group in Oleh and Uzezi Farms in Oyede to assess investment opportunities.
Leading the Brazilian delegation, Roberto Fonseca described the Kwale Special Economic Zone as a strategic project capable of attracting global investors and driving industrial growth.
“We have been studying the Kwale Special Economic Zone with great interest because we believe it is a very wise decision by the Delta State Government. We are planning investments in natural gas power generation and cassava processing, and I believe the Brazilian flag will soon stand alongside the Nigerian flag here in a fruitful partnership,” he said.
Fonseca also said Brazil was ready to invest in ranching, beef processing and agricultural technology, stressing that stronger collaboration would boost food security and productivity in Nigeria.
“Food security remains one of Nigeria’s biggest challenges, and Brazil is ready to contribute by bringing technology, expertise and investment. We are committed to partnering Nigeria to build a stronger agricultural sector.”
Also speaking, Malaysian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Aiyub Omar, said Malaysia was exploring opportunities in Delta’s oil palm sector, revealing that discussions had already begun with Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori on possible collaboration.
Founder of Agrinexus, Dr. Shermal Perera, disclosed that the company had also brought an American investor to explore opportunities in Delta, adding that international interest in the state was already translating into tangible business engagements.
Leading the tour, Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme said the inspection was designed to show investors that Delta offers more than promises.
“What we are looking for is partnership, technology and expertise. We want investors to see that Delta means business. We have indigenous entrepreneurs who are here to stay and are ready to partner with investors from across the world. We want you to have confidence that your investments will be safe in Delta State.”
Managing Director of Skyward Resources Group, Chief Eta Enahoro, said the company’s greenhouse, poultry and feed mill operations were developed with Brazilian technical support. He noted that the farm currently operates 42 greenhouse units and a poultry facility with a capacity of over 30,000 birds, while inviting foreign investors to partner in expanding its operations.
The tour formed part of activities lined up for the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026, aimed at attracting foreign investment and strengthening strategic partnerships across key sectors of the state’s economy.
