BREAKING: Omoyele Sowore Re-Arrested by Police After Securing Bail in Abuja Court
Human rights activist and #FreeNnamdiKanuNow campaigner, Omoyele Sowore, has been re-arrested by the Nigeria Police Force shortly after being granted bail by a Magistrate Court in Kuje, Abuja.
Sowore, alongside Prince Emmanuel Kanu, brother of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor, a member of Kanu’s legal team, and ten other protesters, had earlier met all bail requirements set by the court.
The court had granted bail in the sum of ₦500,000 each, with two sureties residing within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), who must present valid identification and three years of tax clearance certificates.
Despite fulfilling the conditions, Sowore was re-arrested immediately after the court session and reportedly taken to the Kuje Correctional Centre by police operatives.
According to court sources, he is expected to be arraigned on Monday, October 27, on fresh charges linked to his recent comments alleging that President Bola Tinubu is a criminal.
