BREAKING: FG Cuts Kwam 1’s Ban, Restores Licenses of Suspended ValueJet Pilots
The Federal Government has reduced the no-fly ban imposed on Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Kwam 1, to one month and approved the reinstatement of the licenses of two ValueJet pilots earlier suspended over a recent security incident.
Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, confirmed the decision in a statement on Thursday, explaining that it followed critical consultations with stakeholders in the aviation industry.
“In the case of KWAM 1, the NCAA is to reduce his flight ban to a one-month period. FAAN will also work with the music star with a view to engaging him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol going forward,” Keyamo said.
He further announced that Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba of ValueJet will have their licenses restored after serving the same one-month suspension period. During the ban, the pilots will undergo mandatory professional re-appraisal. Keyamo noted that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) will release more details soon.
