FAAN Heightens Airport Surveillance After Ebola Case in FCT
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has activated heightened health surveillance across all airports nationwide following the confirmation of an Ebola Virus Disease case in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In an official statement issued on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, FAAN confirmed it is working closely with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), Port Health Services, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and other relevant health bodies to contain potential spread.
FAAN noted that early detection of the case and immediate contact tracing efforts reflect the effectiveness of existing public health protocols and inter-agency collaboration in managing health risks.
The aviation authority reassured passengers, airport personnel, and airlines that strict health measures are being maintained across airport operations. FAAN urged travelers and the general public to remain calm, cooperate with screening officers, and refrain from spreading unconfirmed rumors.
