BREAKING: Court Discharges Ibom Air Passenger Comfort Emmanson After Case Withdrawal

An Ikeja Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos State, has discharged Comfort Emmanson, the passenger accused of unruly behaviour and assault aboard an Ibom Air flight.

Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami struck out the case on Wednesday after the prosecution withdrew all five charges filed against her.

The development comes days after the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), announced that Ibom Air had agreed to withdraw its complaint.

Keyamo said the decision followed consultations with stakeholders, appeals from concerned individuals, and Emmanson’s display of remorse over the August 10 incident.

Emmanson was arraigned on Monday and granted bail in the sum of ₦500,000 with two sureties in like sum, but was remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre after failing to meet the conditions.

At the resumed hearing, prosecution counsel Oluwabunmi Adeitan informed the court of new developments necessitating the withdrawal of the case. She tendered the application for withdrawal, which the court admitted before formally discharging Emmanson.
