Benue Killings: Mr. Macaroni Laments Massacre, Demands Action
Nigerian actor and activist, Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr. Macaroni, has condemned the killing of over 200 persons in Benue State, calling on the Federal Government to urgently intervene and end the bloodshed.
In a strongly worded post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, the social justice advocate expressed shock over the scale of the violence and questioned the government’s silence and perceived inaction.
“Over 200 Nigerians killed in Benue!!! 200 PEOPLE!!!!! 200!!!!!! I don’t think we understand the gravity of this Barbarism! What exactly is the Government doing? 200 PEOPLE??? Just like that!!!!” he wrote.
The killings, which occurred in Yeluwata, Guma Local Government Area, have sparked outrage across the country, with many prominent Nigerians adding their voices to the call for urgent government response.
Earlier, music icon Innocent Idibia, also known as 2Face, described the situation in Benue as a “national emergency,” expressing deep sorrow and anger at the ongoing violence and the authorities’ failure to find a sustainable solution.
Recall that AsabaMetro earlier reported that, in a video shared via Instagram, the “African Queen” crooner who hails from Benue and serves as the Technical Adviser to the Governor on Entertainment and Community Outreach stated:
“My heart is heavy. I am terribly sad and angry. What is happening in Benue State has become a national emergency. I can’t wrap my head around it anymore. I don’t even know what to say at this point. This has to stop.”
He stressed that repeated condemnation was no longer enough and called for concrete, collective efforts to bring lasting peace to the region.
“This is no longer something we can just condemn in words. Serious action needs to be taken.”
