BREAKING: Pastor Adefarasin Reports to Police Over Viral Gun Incident
Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has voluntarily presented himself to the Lagos State Police Command following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing him holding a firearm during an encounter with a content creator in Lagos.
This development was confirmed via WhatsApp by the Police Public Relations Officer for Lagos State, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin.
The incident gained public attention last week after a video surfaced online, showing Pastor Adefarasin holding what appeared to be a metallic object while addressing a passerby who was recording him. The clip quickly sparked controversy, with some social media users alleging that the object in question was a firearm.
In response, Pastor Adefarasin addressed the matter in a message to his congregation, posted on his social media handles on Saturday. He dismissed the allegations, stating that the object was not a firearm and that he never pointed it at anyone. He described the incident as a misunderstanding.
Confirming the pastor’s appearance at the command headquarters in Ikeja, CSP Hundeyin wrote, “No one is above the law! Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated by detectives.”
He further noted that an investigation is underway: “They have commenced an investigation into the case following the emergence of a video showing the pastor holding a gun-like object toward another road user while driving in an unregistered vehicle. The outcome of the investigation will be made public.”
The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that due process will be followed as the investigation unfolds.
