APC Welcomes Peter Mbah After PDP Exit, Promises Accelerated Growth
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially welcomed Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, into its fold following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the move as a courageous and strategic step that will accelerate development and deepen good governance in the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party congratulated Governor Mbah on his decision to align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, adding that the defection marks a new chapter for Enugu State’s political and economic future.
“The All Progressives Congress warmly welcomes the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah, other members, leaders and stakeholders to our great Party,” the statement read.
“We congratulate Governor Mbah for his courageous decision to join Nigeria’s preeminent and progressive Party. We are confident that this move will consolidate and accelerate development and good governance in Enugu State.”
Morka said the governor’s decision to join the APC demonstrates visionary leadership and a strong commitment to the growth and prosperity of his people.
“The Governor’s decision to join the APC and align with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is a smart repositioning of Enugu State as a strategic partner and beneficiary of the massive economic transformation currently underway in our nation,” he added.
Governor Mbah, while announcing his defection during a televised address earlier on Tuesday, said his decision was driven by the need to foster collaboration and attract greater development opportunities for Enugu State.
“After deep reflection, I have decided to join the All Progressives Congress in order to expand our partnerships and accelerate the transformation of our beloved state,” Mbah stated.
The APC assured Governor Mbah and his supporters of full support and seamless integration into the party’s structure at all levels, pledging to work closely with him to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Enugu.
“Our great Party assures His Excellency and teeming new members of its fullest support, accommodation and smooth integration into the APC family,” Morka added.
The party also commended Mbah’s record of innovation and public service, noting his recognition at the 2025 Presidential GovTech Awards for promoting technology-driven governance and efficiency in public administration.
“Governor Mbah’s leadership and achievements have earned him several national and international recognitions. His joining the APC further strengthens our resolve to deliver impactful governance across the South-East,” the statement concluded.
