Adeboye Welcomes 105 Nigerians Repatriated From South Africa Under RCCG

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has welcomed 105 Nigerians who returned from South Africa under a repatriation programme funded by the church.

Adeboye, in a post on X on Friday, thanked God for the safe return of the Nigerians, who arrived in Lagos as part of the wider RCCG humanitarian intervention.

“Welcome home beloved 105 citizens of Nigeria who have just safely arrived from South Africa,” he wrote.

The returnees are part of a larger programme aimed at bringing about 500 Nigerians from Johannesburg to Lagos after an appeal from the Nigerian diplomatic mission in South Africa. RCCG is funding the air transportation.

Pastor Belemina Obunge, Chairman of the RCCG Task Force for the Reception of Nigerian Returnees from South Africa, said the initiative was approved by Adeboye on humanitarian grounds.

“They are Muslims, Christians, all religions. And we are intentional in making sure that we have collaborated with the various government agencies,” he said.

Government agencies, including the National Emergency Management Agency and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, are assisting with the reception, profiling and onward movement of the returnees.

RCCG had earlier donated $265,854 towards the evacuation of distressed Nigerians from South Africa, with the Federal Government saying the funds would cover 500 one-way air tickets.

Adeboye added, “We are grateful to God for helping us make your safe return possible. We shall continue to pray for you as the Government continues with what remains to ensure you reunite with your families. God bless you all.”
