2027: ‘If You Love Me, Support Tinubu’, Oborevwori Tells Delta Christian Leaders
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged Christian leaders across the state to extend the same support and goodwill they have shown him to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oborevwori made the appeal on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, when the executive committee of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Delta State, led by its Chairman, Bishop Abos Willie, paid him a special prayer visit at Government House, Asaba.
The governor, who recently identified himself as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said his political loyalty requires him to support President Tinubu and other candidates of the party.
He therefore called on Christian leaders to pray for Tinubu, support his administration and mobilise their followers ahead of the 2027 elections.
“If you love me and you believe I am doing well as Governor, extend that love to Mr. President and to all my candidates. That is the truth,” Oborevwori said.
The governor attributed his emergence as Delta State governor in 2023 to the grace of God and the prayers of Christian leaders, urging them to sustain their prayers for the country, President Tinubu and the Delta State Government.
He stressed that the outcome of the 2027 elections should not be viewed solely through political calculations, saying God’s will remained supreme in determining who occupies positions of authority.
“I am an APC man. I must work for my President and I must work for my candidates. I will continue to speak for them,” he said.
Oborevwori seeks prayers for Tinubu
The Delta governor specifically appealed to Christian leaders to pray for President Tinubu for wisdom, strength, good health and divine guidance as his administration implements its ongoing reforms.
Oborevwori said the reforms had begun to improve the financial capacity of state and local governments, noting that councils were now better positioned to execute projects.
“Before now, to pay salaries was a problem. To construct roads was a problem. Councils could not even execute projects. But now, local governments can do projects because the reforms are working,” he said.
He also said his administration remained focused on infrastructure development and other projects across Delta State, adding that completed and ongoing projects were part of efforts to translate available resources into tangible benefits for residents.

Governor urges Christians to participate in politics
Oborevwori also called for greater political participation by Christians, arguing that political decisions affect virtually every aspect of society.
He said the church should not completely distance itself from the political process, while urging Christian leaders to use their influence responsibly.
The governor further appealed for continued prayers for peace and stability in Delta State, saying the prevailing security situation must be sustained to enable development to continue.
“Pray for Mr President, pray for the state. Pray for good governance. Pray for peace and unity. I know God will continue to lead us,” he said.
PFN promises prayers, mobilisation for peaceful 2027 elections
Earlier, the PFN delegation prayed for Oborevwori, his administration, Delta State and Nigeria, seeking divine wisdom, protection, peace and progress.
PFN Delta Chairman, Bishop Abos Willie, commended Oborevwori for what he described as achievements in infrastructure, peace and development, as well as his growing national acceptance.
Willie assured the governor that the Christian body would continue to pray for him and the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
He disclosed that prayer centres would be established across Delta State to seek divine intervention for peaceful campaigns and a violence-free electoral process.
The PFN chairman said the fellowship was impressed by the governor’s handling of potentially volatile situations and his efforts to maintain peace across the state.
He added that the PFN had strengthened its structures across Delta, with about 4,150 ward officers and coordinators expected to be deployed across the state.
According to him, the fellowship had also established a College of Theology with more than 300 students and was completing a hatchery project as part of its economic empowerment efforts.
Willie also commended Oborevwori for organising the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit, describing it as an initiative capable of attracting investment and advancing the state’s economic development.
He assured the governor of continued prayers for divine favour, wisdom and strength, as well as the recognition and development of Delta State at the national and international levels.
