‘I’d Love to Get a Degree’ — Victor Osimhen
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has revealed that one of his biggest ambitions after football is to return to school and earn a university degree, describing education as a lifelong pursuit despite his success on the pitch.
Speaking during an interview with Instablog TV, the Galatasaray forward reflected on the importance of education and the lessons he has learned through life beyond the classroom.
“As an adult, not everything I learned in school. There are some kinds of life lessons you encounter through life’s journey,” Osimhen said.
The 27-year-old explained that a football career is relatively short, making it important to prepare for life after retirement.
“For me, it would be an amazing thing to also try to get a degree, which I’m still considering because football, you won’t play for so long, probably 20, 25 years, and then you’re done.”
Osimhen added that although he already has plans for life after football, obtaining a degree would represent a personal achievement and an opportunity to inspire younger generations.
“In as much as I have a lot of things to fall back to when I’m done, I think it’s still important for me to set an example, to set a standard for the younger generation.”
Encouraging young people who were forced to suspend their education because of financial or personal challenges, the Nigerian international stressed that it is never too late to return to school.
“Even though you dropped out due to some kind of challenges you have, it’s something you can always go back to. School is always there.”
Although Osimhen did not disclose when he intends to enrol or the course he plans to study, his remarks have been widely praised by fans, with many describing his message as a reminder that education remains valuable regardless of career success.
