Declan Rice Declared Fit for England’s World Cup Semi-Final Against Argentina
England have been handed a major fitness boost ahead of their FIFA World Cup semi-final against Argentina after midfielder Declan Rice was declared fit to start following his recovery from illness.
The Arsenal star had been a major doubt after spending three days bedridden and being substituted at half-time during England’s quarter-final victory over Norway. However, head coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed on Tuesday that Rice has recovered and is ready for the blockbuster showdown in Atlanta.
“Everyone is fit to start and everyone was in training except for Jarell (Quansah) who is suspended and Jordan Henderson.”
When asked about Rice’s condition, Tuchel added: “Rice is ready to start and as well recovered as possible.”
Rice’s return comes as a timely boost for the Three Lions, with the 26-year-old expected to play a key role in midfield as England bid to reach their first World Cup final in six decades.
While Rice has recovered, England will still be without suspended defender Jarell Quansah and experienced midfielder Jordan Henderson, who is sidelined after breaking his arm.
England face defending champions Argentina on Wednesday, with a place in the FIFA World Cup final at stake.
