Terry G Criticizes Billboard for Omitting His Songs from Afrobeats Top 50
Nigerian singer Terry G has openly criticized Billboard for excluding his hits from the magazine’s recently released Top 50 Best Afrobeats Songs of All Time.
The list, curated by Billboard to honor the most influential Afrobeats tracks, placed 2Baba’s “African Queen” at number one. Other notable entries include Timaya’s “Dem Mama,” Weird MC’s “Ijoya,” and Olu Maintain’s “Yahooze.”
Despite Terry G’s popular tracks like “Akpako Master,” “Free Madness,” and “Run Mad,” none of his songs made the list.
Reacting on his official X (formerly Twitter) page on Wednesday, he wrote,“TERRY G robbed.”
Fans and industry watchers have since debated the criteria Billboard used to compile the list, questioning whether some influential artists, including Terry G, were overlooked.
