Itsekiri Coordinators Back Tantita, Reject Calls for Contract Revocation
Coordinators of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited from Itsekiri communities have strongly condemned calls for the revocation of the company’s pipeline surveillance contract, describing such agitations as self-serving and destabilizing.
In a statement issued on March 31, 2026, the coordinators said individuals pushing for the cancellation of the contract do not represent the interests of the Niger Delta people but are driven by personal gain.
They warned that such calls could undermine the peace, security, and stability currently being enjoyed in the region.
The coordinators expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the extension of the pipeline surveillance contract, describing the move as a demonstration of commitment to protecting Nigeria’s critical oil and gas infrastructure.
They also reaffirmed confidence in the leadership of High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, stating that he has proven capable of delivering results.
According to the statement, Tantita’s operations have significantly reduced oil theft, improved security, and restored confidence in the oil and gas sector.
The group insisted that those calling for the revocation of the contract lack legitimacy and do not speak for the people of the Niger Delta.
“We assert without reservation that we are the legitimate representatives within our communities,” the statement said, adding that coordinators across ethnic groups already represent their respective regions within Tantita’s structure.

The coordinators emphasized that Tantita’s operational framework is inclusive, with community-based representatives and contractors actively involved across the Niger Delta.
They noted that the structure ensures grassroots participation, accountability, and effective supervision of pipeline surveillance activities.
Highlighting achievements, the group said Tantita’s operations have contributed to the reduction of kidnapping and unrest in the region’s waterways, while also improving environmental stability.
They added that the protection of pipelines has helped revive aquatic life and restore ecological balance in affected communities.
The coordinators alleged that some individuals behind the agitation were previously involved in pipeline vandalism and illegal bunkering, and are seeking opportunities to resume such activities.
They warned that attempts to decentralize or cancel the contract could reverse the gains recorded in the region.
While urging critics to desist, the group advised those agitating against the contract to explore legitimate opportunities rather than disrupt an existing system delivering results.
They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Tantita and ensuring continued protection of oil and gas assets in the Niger Delta.
