Rizespor Sign Former Man City Forward Adedire Mebude

Turkish Süper Lig side Rizespor have agreed a deal to sign Adedire Emmanuel Awokoya-Mebude from Belgian club KVC Westerlo, local transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on X.

The Scottish-Nigerian forward has put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Turkish outfit, with all documents signed through his agent David Moss.

Mebude, 21, joined Westerlo from Manchester City’s academy in July 2023, embarking on his senior professional career after starring in City’s youth ranks. While at City he scored 30 goals and provided 34 assists across youth competitions, helping shape a reputation as one of the club’s top young attacking talents.

At Westerlo, the right winger capable of playing across the frontline made several appearances in the Belgian Pro League, scoring and gaining first-team experience. Over his time in Belgium, he has also had loan spells at Bristol City in the EFL Championship and Hamburger SV in Germany’s 2. Bundesliga as part of his development path.

Born in London to Nigerian parents and raised in Scotland, Mebude represents Scotland at youth international level, having earned 18 caps and scored four goals for the Scotland U21 team. He remains eligible to represent Nigeria at senior level should he choose to switch allegiance.

Rizespor’s acquisition of Mebude marks a significant investment in youth and attacking potential as the Turkish club looks to bolster its squad in the Süper Lig. The long-term contract signals confidence in his ability to grow into a key part of the team’s offensive options.
