‘I Sent Him €5K, He Expected €50K’ — Osimhen on Fallout with Childhood Friend

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has opened up on a personal experience involving a childhood friend, using it to address what he described as a growing sense of entitlement among some individuals.

According to a post shared by sports journalist Fabrizio Romano on Facebook, Osimhen recounted how he once supported a friend financially, only to be met with dissatisfaction.

“I used to send money to one of my childhood friends, but one day he told me about a business he wanted to start. I sent him €5K, but he didn’t appreciate it”.

“He told me he read I earned 1 million euros every week and was expecting €50K.”

The Napoli forward expressed frustration over the situation, noting that he even considered reversing the transaction but was unable to do so.

“I was so mad I wanted to reverse the transaction, but I couldn’t. That €5K can only buy a pair of shoes in Europe, but in Nigeria it’s a LOT of money.”

Reflecting on his journey, Osimhen stressed that his rise to stardom came through hard work and resilience, without financial support from others.

“Nobody sent me 1 dollar before I came to Europe. I hustle day and night, I sold bottle water on the street. People should learn to appreciate whatever they get as gifts, not have this sense of ENTITLEMENT.”

His remarks have since sparked conversations online about gratitude, financial expectations, and the pressures faced by successful individuals in supporting others.
