Olamide Describes Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy as ‘Troublesome Friends’
Nigerian rap icon Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide Baddo, has described Afrobeats superstars Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as his “troublesome friends,” while stressing that their friendship remains solid despite occasional differences.
Speaking on the Afrobeats Podcast with Adesope Olajide, Olamide gave fans rare insight into his bond with the trio often referred to as the “big four” of Nigerian music.
“Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy are all my friends; they are just too troublesome. They are cool dudes; it’s just that sometimes many can’t align on so many things, and that’s fine,” he said in Yoruba.
The YBNL boss also spoke about his recent collaboration with Wizkid on Kia, revealing how another track, Billionaire’s Club, was born unexpectedly during their video shoot. According to him, Wizkid instantly connected with the unreleased song and insisted on recording his part right away.
Grateful for Wizkid’s support, Olamide said, “God bless him, man. That’s a solid dude right there.”
The interview also touched on Olamide’s prolific career spanning more than a decade, with over ten albums, global tours, and high-profile collaborations, including a recent record with American rap legend Dr Dre.
Beyond his personal success, Olamide highlighted his role as a music executive, having discovered and nurtured some of Afrobeats’ biggest names such as Fireboy DML, Asake, Adekunle Gold, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh.
On the secret to his staying power, the rapper credited his faith, saying, “Whatever it is you want to be in life, one thing you should not joke with is God. Nothing extraordinary can really happen if the universe doesn’t align for you. People shouldn’t undermine how far they can go with the blessings of the Lord and His grace.”
