Oborevwori Delivers on ₦50m Scholarship Promise to Delta Schoolgirl
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has fulfilled his N50 million scholarship pledge to Miss Davina Ogheneovo, a Junior Technical Two student of Model Technical College, Oghareki, Ethiope West Local Government Area.
The Governor officially hosted Miss Davina, her mother Mrs. Berkeley Ogheneovo, school officials, and local government leaders at the Government House in Asaba. The reception followed Davina’s viral extempore speech during the commissioning of the technical college, where her confidence and composure captivated the Governor and guests despite minor distractions during her presentation.
Explaining the rationale behind the life-changing award, Governor Oborevwori emphasized that rewarding academic excellence and youth talent remains central to his administration’s developmental roadmap.
He noted that education is the most enduring legacy any government or parent can give to children, pointing out that previous interventions, such as rewarding Delta students who won the World Schools Debate Championship in Doha with N20 million each, demonstrate the state’s commitment to building human capital.
To safeguard her financial future, Governor Oborevwori instructed that the N50 million education fund be deposited into a dedicated account managed exclusively by her parents for her academic needs until she turns 18. He confirmed that the scholarship will cover her entire educational journey through secondary school and university, easing her family’s financial burden.

Expressing her gratitude, Davina, who aspires to become a medical doctor thanked Governor Oborevwori for the gesture and praised his administration for building modern technical facilities across the state. Her mother, Mrs. Ogheneovo, expressed relief and delight, sharing that she enrolled Davina in a technical college because of her strong belief in practical skills and vocational development.
State officials, including the Commissioner for Technical Education, Mr. Smart Ufoh, and the Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Council, Hon. Christian Onogba, commended Governor Oborevwori for his visionary leadership, urging community members to protect state infrastructure and support youth education.
