Nigerians Must List Social Media Handles in Visa Application – U.S Mission
The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued a warning to visa applicants, stressing that Nigerians must provide details of all their social media handles when applying for U.S. visas.
In an advisory shared on its official X handle, @USinNigeria, the Mission explained that applicants are required to disclose every social media username or handle they have used over the past five years on their visa application forms.
“Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last 5 years on the DS-160 visa application form. Applicants certify that the information in their visa application is true and correct before they sign and submit. Omitting social media information could lead to visa denial and ineligibility for future visas,” the Mission stated.
The U.S. Department of State, in a notice highlighted in the advisory, also cautioned applicants. It read:
“Omitting social media information on your application could lead to visa denial and ineligibility for future U.S. visas.”
The Mission said the reminder is part of its #VisaWiseTravelSmart campaign, which encourages transparency and accuracy in the visa application process.
