As workers across the country celebrate their day, former Secretary to Delta State Government (SSG), Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, has urged them to maintain commitment to their duty as the glory days are set to return.
In a statement by his Press Secretary, Mr. Iteveh Ekpokpobe, the former Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Delta State, Macaulay stated that though workers are currently undergoing a critical stage in their public career, they should exercise hope for a better tomorrow.
He commended the fighting spirit and resilience of workers adding that those virtues have been critical catalysts of the Nigeria’s development.
The veteran labour leader urged them to sustain their resilience with an extended call on employers of labour to reciprocate workers gesture through improved welfare.
Macaulay, called on all stakeholders to review their strategies. While he stressed the need for the government to be more attentive to workers’ needs and remunerations, he charged workers to resort to industrial action only after due consultations.
He, however, stressed the need for workers to make any contribution, both individually and collectively, that can make Nigeria a better place their goal and mission.
