‘It’s My Choice’ – Temi Otedola on Taking Mr Eazi’s Surname
Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has explained why she decided to adopt her husband’s surname after marrying Nigerian singer, Mr Eazi.
In an interview with BBC Pidgin, Temi stressed that her decision was a personal one and reflected her new status as a married woman.
“I’m now a married woman, the obvious thing for me is to take my husband’s name. But it’s my personal choice. I also respect a woman’s ability to choose,” she said.
The actress and fashion influencer also spoke on the value of keeping her relationship with Mr Eazi private. According to her, privacy has given her the freedom to define her own narrative without external pressure.
“Moving in silence allows you to build the story you want and share it when and how you’re ready,” she added.
Temi further emphasised that her choice does not undermine women who choose to keep their maiden names, noting that every woman should have the freedom to decide for herself.
Her marriage to Mr Eazi has been celebrated across different continents, beginning with a civil wedding in Monaco, a traditional Yoruba wedding in Dubai, and a white wedding in Iceland’s scenic landscapes.
