Ibom Air Goes Shopping for Professional Cabin Crew After Passenger Saga
Ibom Air has launched a fresh recruitment drive, just weeks after coming under public scrutiny over a passenger comfort incident that trended on social media.
The Akwa Ibom State–owned airline announced vacancies across several departments, including cabin crew, ground operations, customer service, and engineering, in what industry observers describe as a deliberate effort to rebuild passenger confidence and strengthen service delivery.
The move comes on the heels of an incident in which passengers expressed dissatisfaction with the airline’s handling of comfort-related issues during a scheduled flight. The controversy sparked debates online about customer service standards in Nigeria’s aviation industry, putting Ibom Air in the spotlight.

By expanding its workforce, the airline appears to be addressing the concerns raised, particularly around in-flight service and customer relations. According to insiders, the new recruitment is targeted at improving efficiency, boosting staff capacity, and enhancing the overall passenger experience.
