I Dated Younger Men for Fun, Now Wants Marriage – Shaffy Bello

Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has shared that dating younger men was once a phase of fun and experimentation, but no longer aligns with her current priorities.

In a candid appearance on the Dear Ife podcast, hosted by Ifedayo Agoro, Bello revealed: “There is no need to [date younger men]. I have done it before. I think what I want now is different. When I did it, I was having fun. It was for a season; the season is over. I know for sure what I want now is marriage.”

She also addressed the influx of messages from young admirers online:“Yes, men still slide into my DM. When you’re over 50 and young men still slide into your DM, that’s flattering, but the thing is, some of them are badly behaved. Some will come ‘Hi dear’.”

While acknowledging this attention, Bello emphasized that her focus has shifted towards deeper, more meaningful relationships:

“I know for sure what I want now is marriage… I don’t mind marriage. But I have a different opinion when it comes to marriage. I think a lot of people are very rigid when it comes to marriage.”

This reflection comes as the accomplished actress, who has enjoyed a celebrated career spanning decades, shifts her personal outlook toward long-term partnership over fleeting romance.
