Edo Governor Replaces Suspended Oil and Gas Adviser
The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Barrister Kasimu Otono as his new Special Adviser on Oil and Gas.
Otono replaces Felix Isere, who was suspended earlier in the week for allegedly soliciting funds without authorisation in the name of the Edo State Government. The fundraising was linked to a planned Oil and Gas Summit scheduled to take place on August 7 in Benin City.
The appointment was confirmed on Friday via a statement issued by Umar Ikhilor, Secretary to the State Government.
“It is hereby announced for the information of the general public that the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Barr. Kasimu Otono as Special Adviser (Oil and Gas) to the Governor,” the statement read.
Barr. Kasimu Otono is a legal practitioner, real estate entrepreneur, philanthropist, and community mobiliser. He is a member of both the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association, and currently serves as Senior Partner at Kay and Kay Legal, a firm specialising in commercial, real estate, and oil and gas law.
Governor Okpebholo had earlier directed the suspended aide, Felix Isere, to refund all monies collected from donors and cautioned the public against any further dealings with him.
