Delta Speaker Applauds Launch of 200 Most Outstanding Deltans Compendium
The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has applauded the launch of the second edition of the 200 Most Outstanding Deltans Compendium, describing it as a powerful tribute to excellence and a source of inspiration for generations.
The event in Asaba brought together eminent sons and daughters of the state and featured goodwill messages that highlighted the importance of celebrating Delta’s finest achievers.
Speaking on his behalf, the Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, commended the compilers and organizers of the project for spotlighting outstanding individuals whose contributions have fostered unity, growth, and development in the state.
He described the compendium as more than a book, stressing that it was a tribute to excellence and a source of inspiration for present and future generations. According to him, “today’s celebration reaffirms Delta State’s reservoir of talent, vision, and leadership. The stories of these honourees will inspire resilience, innovation, entrepreneurship, and a culture of excellence across our state.”
The Speaker further congratulated the honourees, noting that their achievements prove that greatness is attainable through hard work, passion, and commitment. He assured that the Delta State House of Assembly would continue to support initiatives that promote excellence, preserve history, and uplift the people.
Also delivering his message, the Chairman of the compendium project, Air Vice Marshal Frank O. Ajobena (Rtd), represented by his son, Flight Lieutenant Terry Ajobena (Rtd), lauded the honourees for their distinguished accomplishments in diverse fields, ranging from academia and politics to business, sports, and the arts.
While congratulating the 200 honourees, he emphasized that true greatness is not measured only by individual success but also by its impact on communities. “Delta is blessed with immense human capital, but we must harness it to reflect in our schools, industries, roads, healthcare, and the quality of life of ordinary Deltans,” he stated.
He called on both government and citizens to work together to create an enabling environment for talents to thrive for the greater good of all. He also urged that the compendium be made available in schools, libraries, and homes to inspire the next generation.
Both leaders reiterated the need for Deltans to draw strength from the stories of excellence captured in the compendium and to rededicate themselves to building a stronger, united, and progressive state.
The occasion ended with applause for the organizers and honourees, with a shared resolve that the stories of 200 Most Outstanding Deltans will remain a beacon of inspiration for years to come.
