Delta North APC Passes Vote of No Confidence on State Chairman, Insists on Anioma Governor

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Prophet Jones Ode Erue, has come under fire once again as the Delta North caucus of the party has accused him of working against the party’s interest.

This was revealed in a statement made available to newsmen during a press briefing in Asaba on Friday, May 12, 2017, by the Anioma Patriots of the Party.

The aggrieved members who converged in the Delta State Capital, accused the chairman of working against the party’s resolution that the district should produce the party’s candidate in the 2019 governorship election in the State.

In a statement issued by the Delta North Caucus and signed by the Chairman, Anioma Patriots in APC, Delta state, Chief Emmanuel Eboha, the party stalwarts recalled that the state leadership caucus meeting which was convened on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at the instance of the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachiukwu, with notable chieftains of the APC in attendance, had resolved to zone the governorship position to Delta North.

It further stated that the State caucus meeting came prior to the peace party held in Abuja by the National Chairman, His Excellency, John Odigie Oyegun, in which Prof. Utomi, Chief Great Ogboru and Chief Hyacinth Enuha were physically present. So the Dr. Kachiukwu parley was convened as a follow up peace and reconciliation meeting to distill the rapport of the Abuja peace accord.

“it is therefore regrettable that the State Chairman who was present in person at both meeting could deliberately set up machinations to undo the peace accord already cemented and seek to undermine the relations reached by the national and state leadership of the party.”

The Delta North APC Caucus noted that in several instances, he has given contracts to party leaders from Delta Central and ignored those from Delta North, all in his attempts to shortchange and subvert the peace accord and working resolutions of the APC for Delta State, which was reached at the March 4, 2017 meeting.

“It is no longer news that Prophet Jones Erue is working with certain cabal in delta central, with vested interest in contesting the governorship position in 2019 and there scuttle the very bright chances of the APC taking over the reins of power in Delta State Government House in 2019.”

“Erue, who has always been used by this same cabal in Delta Central, has consistently marginalised and undermined the political interests of Delta North district in APC and has brazenly usurped official positions of Delta Northerners in the party, giving the impression that APC is an Urhobo ethnic political party.More facts of his anti-party activities with the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the state would emerge in no time,” the statement added.

The APC Anioma Patriots at the end of the Press Conference, passed a Vote of No Confidence on the State Chairman, Prophet Jones Ode Erue and called on the national leadership of the Party to deal decisively on this ugly development and reposition the party on its winsome track of abiding on the existing governorship zoning arrangement in the state, of which Delta North should be allowed to complete its two term in the governorship position.
