Governor Sheriff Oborevwori Honoured with PGF Outstanding Leadership Award for Excellence in Governance
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has received the Outstanding Leadership Award for Excellence in Governance from the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF). The recognition celebrates his humility, visionary leadership, and transformative governance strides in Delta State.
The prestigious award was presented on Thursday during the PGF Quarterly Strategy Meeting of Secretaries to the Governments (SSGs) of APC-governed states, held at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.
Themed “Strengthening Subnational Governance Synergy for Effective Policy Coordination in APC-Governed States,” the meeting gathered SSGs and high-level officials to enhance administrative collaboration and deepen governance reforms across Nigeria.
Presenting the award to Governor Oborevwori—represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, the Director-General of the PGF, Mr. Folorunsho Aluko, described the governor as “a beacon of humility, progress and excellence in governance.”
Aluko commended Governor Oborevwori for redefining public service through accessibility, empathy, and disciplined leadership.
“Your administration’s commitment to infrastructural renewal, youth inclusion and transparent governance has set a new standard of progress and purpose in public office.
Beyond the projects that dot Delta’s landscape, what stands out is your humility of heart, accessibility, and genuine passion for the people,” Aluko said.
He added that the Asaba meeting symbolized “the renewed energy of cooperative federalism,” noting that the SSGs of APC states are not merely administrators but “architects of coherence and custodians of purpose” in implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Aluko further emphasized that the PGF’s tribute to Governor Oborevwori was “not only a recognition of personal excellence, but also a call to collective progress,” adding that “history rarely rewards those who merely occupy offices; it celebrates those who build systems that outlive them.”
In his remarks, Governor Oborevwori, represented by his Deputy, expressed gratitude to the PGF and described the award as a motivation to deliver even better governance to the people of Delta State.
