Delta Governor Lauds Olu of Warri at 4th Coronation Anniversary
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has commended the Olu of Warri, His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, for his visionary leadership, cultural revival, and contributions to peace and development in Delta State.
Speaking at the Olu’s palace in Aghofen, Warri, during the 4th coronation anniversary celebration, Governor Oborevwori described the monarch’s reign as a beacon of peace, unity, and purposeful leadership.
The Governor, who was represented by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, alongside a high-powered state delegation, hailed Ogiame Atuwatse III for redefining traditional leadership with integrity, innovation, and a global outlook.
“Since ascending the revered throne in August 2021, Your Royal Majesty has demonstrated that traditional leadership, when guided by vision and integrity, can be a powerful force for transformation,” the Governor stated.
Governor Oborevwori further noted that the Olu’s reign has promoted harmony in the Warri Kingdom, advanced the ideals of the Itsekiri nation, and upheld equity, justice, and cultural pride.

He highlighted the monarch’s efforts in forging bilateral partnerships and attracting investments, which have positioned Warri as a growing economic hub in alignment with the State Government’s M.O.R.E Agenda, Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.
Reaffirming his administration’s support for the traditional institution, Oborevwori said:
“The tranquility of Warri Kingdom under your reign has provided the foundation upon which we continue to expand infrastructure, empower communities, and drive development across Delta State.”
The Governor congratulated His Royal Majesty and the entire Itsekiri nation, expressing hope that the Olu’s reign would continue to inspire progress.
“May your reign remain a source of light, unity and progress to Iwere land, Delta State and Nigeria at large,” he emphasized.
The coronation anniversary attracted dignitaries, including lawmakers, government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and well-wishers from within and outside the Itsekiri nation. Guests were treated to cultural displays, traditional music, and heartfelt tributes celebrating the Olu’s commitment to the welfare of his people.
