Hundeyin Removed as Force PRO Following Disu’s Appointment
The Nigeria Police Force has removed Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Benjamin Hundeyin from his role as Force Public Relations Officer, six months after he took over the position.
According to reports, the decision was approved on Thursday, March 5, 2026, though the reason behind the move was not disclosed.
Hundeyin’s removal follows the inauguration of Tunji Disu as the substantive Inspector-General of Police, who took over the position after the removal of Kayode Egbetokun. Disu officially assumed office on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
A senior police source confirmed that Hundeyin was removed as part of adjustments common when a new Inspector-General assumes leadership, adding that it is not yet clear who will succeed him as Force PRO.
Hundeyin was appointed Force PRO by former IGP Kayode Egbetokun. Hailing from Badagry, Lagos State, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Language from Lagos State University and a Master’s in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
He also trained in civil-military coordination at the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre in Jaji, Kaduna State.
His career includes service as Police Public Relations Officer at Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, and participation in the United Nations–African Union Mission in Darfur (2020). Hundeyin is a member of professional bodies including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, the International Public Relations Association, and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.
