Agidigbo FM’s Oriyomi Hamzat Apologises to Naira Marley, Lifts Ban on His Songs
The founder of Agidigbo 88.7 FM in Ibadan, Oriyomi Hamzat, has publicly apologised to Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and lifted the ban on his songs at the station.
Hamzat made the apology during a live broadcast on Tuesday, announcing that Malian songs would once again be played on Agidigbo FM.
The broadcaster had in 2024 banned Marley’s music from the station following allegations linking the Marlian Records boss to the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, who died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27.
Expressing regret for his previous stance, Hamzat admitted he had misjudged Marley.
“I am very sorry for all my provocative statements or words to Naira Marley. And now at the Agidigbo Radio Station, we have lifted our legs up to march Satan and overcome obstacles. From today onward, I am raising the ban that was placed on the singer’s tracks at Agidigbo FM. We can now be playing Naira Marley songs at our radio station,” he said.
To affirm his decision, Hamzat immediately played Marley’s hit song Tesumole live on air.
