‘I Swear by My Mother, I Beat DJ Tunez Alone’ — Burna Boy replies Wizkid
Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy has denied claims that he attacked DJ DJ Tunez with the help of multiple people during their recent altercation in Lagos.
The incident occurred on Monday at Obi’s House, a popular weekly Afrobeats event, where what began as a heated exchange reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation before it was brought under control.
While initial reports suggested that members of Burna Boy’s team joined the fight, the singer has now refuted those claims.
Speaking during an Instagram Live session with fellow artist Shallipopi, Burna Boy insisted he acted alone.
“Shalli, it was not 10 people that touched that guy, it was only me. I swear by my mother. If I am lying, let Ogun take my mother to wherever Wizkid’s mother is. It was only me, and I gave him two slaps,” he said.
The clash has since sparked reactions within the music industry, with speculation linking the dispute to ongoing rivalries, particularly DJ Tunez’s close association with Wizkid.
Wizkid appeared to react to the situation on Wednesday, reportedly describing Burna Boy as a “coward” over the alleged incident.
DJ Tunez, also known as Ogbafia, had earlier taken a swipe at Burna Boy, calling him a “coward” and posting “All Signs of Weakness” a play on the singer’s album title No Sign of Weakness.
Burna Boy responded with a mocking video, where he was seen dancing to Money Constant by DJ Tunez featuring Wizkid, DJ Maphorisa and Mavo, while altering lyrics in what many interpreted as a jab at the DJ.
The controversy further escalated amid reports of a proposed ban on Burna Boy’s music by DJs, a claim that has since been dismissed by the Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN).
