2027: Oborevwori, Uzodimma, Okowa Rally South-South APC for Unity
Governors and top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South region have intensified efforts toward the 2027 general elections, calling for unity, coordinated messaging, and grassroots mobilisation.
Leading the charge, Imo State Governor and Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Senator Hope Uzodimma, alongside Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, made the call during the South-South Strategic Communications and Mobilisation Summit themed “One Party, One Message, One Mobilisation,” held at Government House, Asaba.
The summit brought together key stakeholders, including Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, to strengthen communication strategies and consolidate support for the APC.
Uzodimma revealed that the meeting produced a comprehensive national work plan with clear timelines and deliverables, describing it as the “compass and spine” for Renewed Hope Ambassadors nationwide.
He noted that despite improvements in economic indicators such as GDP growth, oil production, and revenue allocation, many Nigerians at the grassroots are yet to feel the impact.
“You are the interpreters of government vision and the bridge between performance and public understanding. You must go where the President cannot reach and explain reforms in ways people understand,” he said.
Uzodimma acknowledged that reforms like subsidy removal and exchange rate adjustments come with temporary hardship but insisted they are necessary to fix long-standing economic challenges. He urged ambassadors to adopt clear, relatable, and data-driven communication while countering misinformation.
In his remarks, Governor Oborevwori described the summit as a strategic platform to deepen grassroots mobilisation, stressing that unity is critical for political success.
“Unity must be matched with action. We must take the message to the people, defend our reforms, and mobilise effectively,” he said.
Former Delta State Governor and South-South Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, said the initiative is designed to equip participants with tools to effectively communicate the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Okowa highlighted achievements including improved foreign reserves, increased oil production, expanded healthcare, education reforms, and infrastructure development, while admitting that a communication gap has limited public awareness.
He urged ambassadors to engage citizens directly in communities, markets, and institutions, using facts and relatable examples to explain government policies.
Also speaking, Chairman of the occasion, Adedayo Adeyeye, described the South-South as Nigeria’s economic backbone and expressed confidence in APC’s victory in 2027, citing growing regional alignment with the party.
Participants were encouraged to replicate the strategies discussed across states and local governments, focusing on measurable actions, continuous engagement, and unified messaging.
The summit ended with a strong call for discipline, coordination, and sustained grassroots engagement as critical drivers of both policy success and electoral victory in 2027.
