UEFA Sets September 2 Deadline for Champions League Squads

UEFA has set Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as the deadline for clubs to submit their squads for the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase.

According to UEFA, clubs must submit their List A by 23:59 CET on September 2, with the list subsequently verified and validated by the relevant national association.

Clubs can register a maximum of 25 players on List A, including at least two goalkeepers. At least eight places must be reserved for locally trained players, although the maximum squad size is reduced if a club does not have enough eligible locally trained players.

UEFA said List B can be amended throughout the season, provided it is submitted no later than 23:59 CET on the day before the relevant match.

The September 2 deadline also means that players transferred after the deadline will not be eligible to represent their new clubs in the Champions League league phase.

Clubs that advance to the knockout phase will have another opportunity to strengthen their squads, with UEFA allowing a maximum of three new players to be registered by February 4, 2027.
