Trump to Host UFC Fight at White House for His 80th Birthday Bash
President Donald Trump has announced that the White House will host an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event on his 80th birthday, marking the first time the combat sport will be held on the grounds of the U.S. executive mansion.
Speaking to Navy sailors at the Norfolk naval base in Virginia, Trump said,
“On June 14 next year, we’re going to have a big UFC fight at the White House right at the White House, on the grounds of the White House.”
The date coincides with Trump’s 80th birthday, although he made no mention of the personal significance during his remarks.
Earlier this year, UFC President Dana White had announced plans for the fight to be held on July 4, 2026, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the United States. However, Trump’s latest statement suggests the high-profile event has been rescheduled.
White confirmed that preparations for the event are already underway.
“Early next year, we’ll start looking at building the White House card, which I will right now tell you will be the greatest fight card ever assembled in the history of definitely this company,” he said during a press conference shared on the UFC YouTube channel.
Trump, a longtime supporter and frequent guest at UFC events, has maintained a close friendship with White for years. He has attended several major fights, often receiving rock-star treatment from the crowd.
Hosting the brutal mixed martial arts event at the White House would be a first in U.S. history, blending the worlds of politics, sport, and entertainment.
The UFC, the world’s largest mixed martial arts organization, features fighters from various disciplines, including jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, wrestling, and boxing. Matches take place in an eight-sided cage known as The Octagon, where athletes are allowed to use nearly any striking or grappling technique, except for illegal moves like eye gouging.
Despite its controversy with medical professionals warning of potential brain injuries among fighters the sport has gained massive popularity, particularly among young men, a key demographic in American politics.
Trump’s decision to host the event further cements his connection to that audience ahead of his 80th birthday celebration.
