Rivers Crisis Over, I Owe No One Explanation on Truce – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he owes no one any explanation regarding the terms of the reconciliation between him and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking during a media chat monitored in Abuja on Thursday, Wike announced that peace has been restored to Rivers State after months of political tension.

“Peace has returned to Rivers State,” Wike said firmly.

“I don’t owe anybody any explanation on the terms of the truce.”

He accused certain individuals of exploiting the crisis in Rivers for personal gain, describing them as opportunists who were benefiting financially from the discord between him and Fubara.

“Several people had turned the crisis in Rivers State into an ‘oil well’ from which they were drawing illicit funds for their selfish interests,” Wike stated. “Now that peace has been restored, they are not happy.
