Regina Daniels Begs Nigerians to Stop Insulting Her Mother Amid Marital Crisis
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Regina Daniels has appealed to Nigerians to stop attacking her mother, Rita Daniels, amid her ongoing marital crisis with Senator Ned Nwoko.
In an emotional video shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, the actress dismissed claims that she married Nwoko out of greed, revealing that her mother and siblings had initially advised her against the union.
“The main essence of this video is to please, stop insulting my mom,” Regina said tearfully. “She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. She is my god on earth. She’s been strong for seven years, holding everything together despite the insults. I’m the one who refused to listen — I fell in love. Everyone said no, my mom warned me, but I didn’t listen.”
Regina explained that her family was not struggling financially before her marriage and debunked suggestions that her mother pushed her into the relationship for money.
“We were not broke. What money can a man give to a mother to buy her child, who practically provides for the home?” she said.
The actress also revealed that at one point, the pressure surrounding her marriage led her to contemplate suicide.
“I was going to kill myself if I didn’t marry Ned. Everyone was looking for me. I went to the police station and said, ‘Arrest me. My family doesn’t want me to marry the love of my life,’” she recounted.
Despite the turmoil, Regina expressed continued respect for her estranged husband, while vowing to protect and raise their children.
“The only reason I’m not fighting you, Ned, is because I want Munir and Khalifa’s father’s name to be strong. But I’ll fight for my children. I’ll raise them with or without your support,” she declared.
Regina’s video comes amid reports of a deepening marital rift with Nwoko. In October, she accused the senator of physical assault, allegations he denied, claiming her actions were influenced by substance use.
